Building Alterations> Primrose Cottage, Chiddingfold, Surrey
Primrose Cottage, Chiddingfold

The existing building is a delightful three storey cottage. However the existing kitchen was a little on the small side. The Client appointed the Architectural Consultant and they developed the idea of a fantastic orangery to the rear of the existing building.

An on-going project. Not yet started on site.

Historically the existing roof space had already been converted to provide an additional two habitable rooms.

The additional loading here was taken into account as part of the proposed alterations.

The vaulted roof was formed by two cranked steel frames with loose timber rafter and flat roof joists between.

The enlarged opening in the back wall of the existing building to open up the former kitchen space into the new orangery was formed using a box frame, which omitted any local foundation enhancements below the retained masonry piers.
