Initial inspections on site revealed that the upper layers of soil were of reasonably low quality and accordingly we recommended the a suspended ground floor slab was adopted and suggested some options.
We agreed that beam and block floor solution was most efficient.
The foundations of the existing part two and part single storey were reasonably shallow and not particularly wide. We worked with the Architectural consultant to ensure that the upper stories were as lightweight as possible in order to limit the increase in loading onto the existing foundations. We were able to justify that the existing foundation was just able to accommodate the increases.
